I remember the challenges of learning a new language when I was in school. I did not value the lessons nor the books I had to read. Looking back today, I am most grateful for the second language policy that Singapore had. Being bilingual, aware of the world around us and it’s languages and cultures, is so very vital to our success in life.

In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be looking at Why it Pays to be Bilingual.

2) metalinguistic skills : skills necessary to learn languages, write, speak, listen, respond to words in a language

3) augment : improve, increase, make bigger

  1. 1. Bilingual person is quite improtant in know days, because world is being globalisatiin, therefore in korea there are lots of foreinger. Aslo in companies they require bilingual languages for mandatory. Having more than one language is better than nothing. However, learning languages is very hard, because different culture, understanding, and details are the big reason for hard to learn languages.

    Multitasking. Working more than one job

    Bilingual Speak more than 2 languaes

    Verbal. Relate more than one language

Bilingual has lots of benefits, because know all things are change into global, we can easily see other languages around us.For examples, In Korea there are lots of signboard in english which mean english is familiar to Korean. That show us bilingual is part of our life. Now the world is hard to live without other language. Those are why bilingual is important. It’s also why i am in NLCS JEJU now.
    2. 1)-Bilingual : Able to use two different language
    2)-Multitasking : To do two or more different tasks at the same time
    3)-Verbal: Relate on the language

  3. 1) Bilingual gives you a lot of benefits. This can upgrade your verbal, metalinguistic skills, and memory skills. If there are more languages which you can say, there will be more people who can talk with and expands your social area. This also fits for global 21st century. Furthermore, there are more benefits. We can earn more money from a lot of companies, and the government will treat you better. Bilingual also decrease social problem like hopelessness, and aggressive behavior. In my opinion, Bilingual increase your features. This is because this expands your discerning eye.
    2) Bilingual: written or spoken in two languages
    Multitasking: the action of running several processes or jobs simultaneously on one system
    Verbal: relating to or consisting of words

  4. 1. I think being bilingual is related to NLCS students. We are came here to learn second language which is English, moreover we also learn Mandarin. These various languages will help us to be global people. Bilinguals are good at multitasking. They work many different tasks as well without distractions and they are safe about to be Alzheimer’s. As being bilingual, we can extend to not only Korea but also abroad. The link shows that bilingual often makes more money. In general, bilingual positions earn more money than monolingual positions. The countries like bilingual people more. Also we except two cultures from bilingualism. We can compare and understand two speprate cultures.

    2) Multitaskers : Person who does two or more different tasks at the same time.
    Multitasking : Doing two or more tasks at the same time.
    3) Verbal : To indicate that something is connected with words.
    Spatial : To describe things relating to areas.
